About Manchester City

Manchester City, nicknamed the Blues and the Citizens, plays in the Barclays Premier League.  Currently ranked number five, Manchester City has spent 10 years in the Premier League.  In the 2002-03 season, Manchester City became one of only two English teams to have qualified for the UEFA Cup through the ‘Fair Play ranking.’  Three of Manchester City’s star players were chosen for the provisional England squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup: Shaun Wright Philips, Adam Johnson and Garreth Barry.

Research carried out by Manchester City in 2005 estimates a fan base of 886,000 in the United Kingdom and a total in excess of 2 million worldwide. The City fans' song of choice is a rendition of "Blue Moon", which despite its melancholic theme is belted out with gusto as though it were a heroic anthem.

Manchester City's biggest rival is neighbor Manchester United, against whom they contest the Manchester derby.

Manchester City has spent 10 years in the Premier League since its inception in 1992. For more, visit their website at www.mcfc.co.uk.
